Experience the adventure of traveling by Steam powered locomotive on a trip through the spectacular Animas Canyon into the heart of the Weminuche Wilderness and on up to Silverton, the town that time forgot.

We Recommend the Rockwood Pickup

The most popular trip from the Lodge is the Rockwood Pickup. The Rockwood Station is located just before the train enters the Weminuche wilderness at the Animas Canyon, just after it leaves Durango and the housing subdivisions in the valley. It also shortens the total trip time from 9 hours to around 7.

The Package we’ve offered here is for a two night Lodge stay, however we will be happy to build you a package for as many nights as you choose or for a condo stay as well. Kids tickets are also available.

Cascade Canyon Winter Train

The Winter Train begins November 24th and runs daily through May 7th, 2005. It leaves from Durango at 10a.m. and runs deep into the Animas River Canyon to Teft's Spur and turns back at the Cascade "Y." You will return to Durango at 3:30p.m., just in time for some shopping before dinner in one of Durango's many fine restaurants.
